LOGAN – The Craig Jessop conducted American Festival Chorus and Orchestra “Halloween Spooktacular” will take place October 29 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in the Ellen Eccles Theatre. The program, produced and hosted by USU professor Cory Evans, will be feature a 220-voice choir, full orchestra, soloists, dancers and surprise guests.

A 17-year-old composer and Logan High School senior will premier her work “October Lullaby.” Emma Cardon began studying piano at age four and began composing at age six. She has won awards in numerous composing competitions.

“My baby cousin was born and her name is Evelyn,” Cardon said. “I was writing a piece for her first birthday called ‘Evy’s Lullaby’ which was for a string quartet,oboe and a vocalist. Then basically, when Craig Jessop gave me the opportunity to write a piece for the American Festival Chorus and Orchestra, I took ideas from the piece and it is dedicated to Evelyn, and she is actually coming to see it. She’s only one so she probably won’t know what’s happening, but it is still written in her honor.”

Jessop said family pops concerts are geared to please audiences of all ages and he cannot think of a better way to introduce the talented younger artists.
